Location: a village in Aswan Governorate, Upper Egypt, near the border of Sudan, They are located on the western bank of Lake Nasser, growing behind the Aswan Dam.

Climate: In Abu Simbel, the summers are long, sweltering, the winters are short, cool, dry, and windy.

Transportation: There are 3 ways to get from Aswan to Abu Simbel temples by plane, taxi or car, By chartered bus, By public bus, By boat.

History: Ramses II embarked on a large-scale construction program throughout Egypt and Nubia, which is controlled by Egypt. Nubia was very important to the Egyptians as it was a source of gold and many other valuable merchandise. He built several grand temples, There are two temples, the Great Temple, dedicated to Ramesses II himself, and the Small Temple, dedicated to his wife Queen Nefertari.

The Great Temple of Ramsis II: Dedicated to Ramses II himself and gods Ra, Amun, and Ptah, Features statues of Ramses.  Its axis was positioned by the ancient Egyptian architects in such a way that twice a year, on February and October 20, the rays of the sun would penetrate the sanctuary and illuminate the sculpture on the back wall, except for the statue of Ptah, the god connected with the Underworld, who always remained in the dark. These dates are allegedly the king’s birthday and coronation day, the deified Ramesses II could take his place next to Amun Ra and Ra-Horakhty. Due to the displacement of the temple and Kilroy is one of the 4 giant statues of Ramesses II.

Temple of Hathor: The main temple in one of the best preserved temple complexes in Egypt.

Sound & Light Show: each night at 6pm in winter and 7pm in summer. Headphones are provided to allow visitors to hear the commentary in various languages.

Solar alignment: It is believed that the axis of the temple was positioned by the ancient Egyptian architects , the rays of the sun would penetrate the sanctuary and illuminate the sculptures on the back wall, except for the statue of Ptah, a god connected with the Egyptian underworld.

Language: the main language is arabic.
